    Hove Prom 10K

    Sun 19 Sep 2010

The blustery conditions were no obstacle to the winner Ian Leitch who broke the course record in a time of 31:29.

Phoenix runners too managed to cope and but for the absence of women, might well have scooped the team prize (6 men and 3 women to score).

    8th James Miles 36:30, 17th Ray Matthews 37:48, 18th Andy Bone 37:54, 22nd Bruce Faulkner 38:44, 23rd Michael Whyte 38:50, 40th Jim Whitelegg 40:44, 60th Andrew Haig (1st M60) 42:42, 62nd Terry Avey 42:53, 142nd Rik Taub 50:29, 237th Paul Thomas 77:57

    Hastings Half Marathon

    Sun 21 Mar 2010

Hastings (4,000 finishers) was the destination of four Phoenix athletes. Its a tricky course with a long uphill section between four and six miles. Its reckoned to add a good couple of minutes to your time, so some good performances here. Andrew Neighbour was first home 190th in 1:29:45 followed by Terry Avey (461st 1:37:07), Faye McClelland (1123rd 1:47:04) and Debbie Evers (1764th 1:56:05).

    Sussex Beacon Half Marathon

    Sun 21 Feb 2010

Cold, wet and windy with race organisation that, well, just fell apart at the seams. The question has to be asked whether the race can sustain such numbers (6000+ finishers). Having said that, this was a good day for Phoenix. To quote The Argus:

...Dave Carter helped Phoenix scoop the team prize ahead of B&H. Carter came seventh with Bruce Faulkner, Darryll Hards and Max-Patrick Lippert making up the victorious quartet...

Not only that but Archie Davis won the junior 800m race and Max Pickard the junior 1M event

The last race in this year's Grand Prix series and probably the most challenging of the 10Ks. Add three minutes to your usual time is what one hears. Hove Prom 10k

    Sun 20 Sep 2009

Fourteen athletes competed the Hove Prom 10K. Unfortunately there were only two women among them. A third might well have netted us the £270 team prize (nine to count of which three needed to be women). This shouldn't take away though from some fantastic performances with James Miles – second overall and Erica Martin – winner of the  women's race, showing the way. There were no fewer than eight pbs as well.
